Welcome from the Chair of Governors
Thank you for your interest in the post of Principal at Loughborough College. The post has become vacant following Jim Mutton’s recent announcement that he will be retiring after nineteen years as Principal. I hope this website provides you with an insight into life at the College, our achievements to date and our vision for the future.
Established in 1909, Loughborough College has a long standing reputation for providing high quality education and training. We provide an extensive range of subjects from GCSE to degree level and are particularly well known for our further and higher education work in Sport, the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and in Business, Leadership and Management. The College attracts students from Leicestershire, the rest of the UK and countries across the world.
Partnerships are very important to us at Loughborough College. We are privileged to share a heritage and campus with Loughborough University and work closely together to ensure our joint branding continues to benefit our stakeholders. We also have very successful collaborations with many other UK universities, businesses, schools and community groups. In addition, we partner the RNIB Loughborough Vocational College which is our immediate neighbour.
With a good quality record, very strong finances and productive strategic partnerships we have achieved much at Loughborough College. However, we are not complacent and it is our strategic intent to continue on a growth trajectory notwithstanding the current economic climate. Looking to the future, we (as all other colleges) will face major challenges as public funding for the Further Education sector changes and the expectations of individuals, communities and businesses rightly rise. We are lucky in that we have worked hard to diversify our provision such that Loughborough College is now only 60% reliant on public funding. It is this platform that we believe ideally suits and will facilitate achievement of our ambitious 5 year growth target.
In our Strategic Plan 2011-2016, we have identified four key strategic pillars which will define our endeavour:
- Being responsive
- Delivering leading edge quality
- Ensuring our financial sustainability
- Attracting and working with excellent people
Loughborough College and the Corporation Board are ambitious and as our new Principal the Board will both support strongly and look to you to help us deliver our growth strategy and further develop our already high national and international profile. You will be required to build on our successes to date and identify new opportunities and strategic alliances that will provide a bridge to the future for individuals, communities and organisations; inspiring success and enriching lives.
If you have proven senior management experience within an entrepreneurial environment, have strong commercial acumen and most importantly, share our passion for learning and development, this is an opportunity which provides significant personal and professional rewards.
